At the Braveheart Invitational in Tyler, Texas on Friday, the LSU Shreveport Women's Cross Country team recorded their best ever finish since the program began in 2013.

The team competed at the University of Texas - Tyler on a reportedly muggy evening. The Women's Cross Country team finished 4th among eleven other teams competing at the Invitational.

Elizabeth O'Neal finished in the top half of the field and in the best time so far this season. She crossed the finish line at 25:46:78, which averaged out to 8:19 minutes per mile.

Kelsey Ellender, senior, and Alexis Young, junior, finished right behind O'Neal for LSUS. Newcomers and freshman Sarah Haines and Kenzie Holley crossed the finish line at the same time. Alissa Cucjen, Hope Chamberlain, and Rikki Adama rounded out the Pilots at the competition last Friday.

The team also finished 4th last year at the Demon Invitational despite only six teams competing.

The Men's Cross Country team finished 7th at the Braveheart Invitational. Josh Hudson was the first Pilot for the Men's team to cross the finish line at 21:03.37, averaging 6:47 minutes per mile.

The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams will return to Tyler, Texas on Friday to compete in the King Campbell Spectacular.
